I'll overwhelm 'serious boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants confronted each other to promote the upcoming bout.

Former two time unified title holder Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to break his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to seriously aim to hurt him. That's my goal."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically famous for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK rival Tyson Fury - and refused a large bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul win.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer said.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.

Paul's History

Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mainly fought MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice is still one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making massive earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would derail the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As both boxers engaged in the usual confrontation, with their size difference evident, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is truly happening.
